Silent assessment

by libby   Dec 13, 2005

Flick
the hair from your face, so I can
almost
feel it on my own fingers.
Stretch
yourself out, lay your long body on the floor, so I can
almost
see you from above - the best angle, but only from close-up.
Speak
to someone, please, so I can
almost
hear you whispering secret sanctities in my ear.
Smile
to yourself so subtly, so I can
almost
trace the soft shapes of your lips.
Move
with muted abandon, in that lovely way you have, so I can
almost
feel the two of us moving together.
Just don't
look over here, don't turn, don't shift, so I can
continue
my silent assessment.
Don't
get up, no
don't
start walking, please
don't open your pretty mouth, because
the stupid words that drip from my own
will ultimately ruin the moment in which I
almost
had you.

I promise, if you're not making money from this already, you should be.

Do you know that feeling that you described to me once, the one you have while listening to Jimmy, the one that makes you feel like youre flying? I felt a little bit of that after reading this. Man, do you have a way with words.
