Reality of Dreams

by Dwight Towner   Dec 13, 2005

Look at life through the eyes of the struggle
Giving in to the lies of the hustle
False promises got us walking roun' perpetratin' a better life
Thoughts probably better left to basic day dreams
So it seems a change gon' come
But when it don't we tend to run
We must learn to tread waters of the storm
Before we penetrate direct path to the sun.
You say to yaself the life I see on T.V. ain't the life meant for me
My response to you is believe.
My personal career move
Gives life to my thoughts
And breaks the silence of my solitude.
Put my emotions on paper
My knowledge is my labor.
I've stood alone
Been a part of a team
Been a part of the problem
Became part of the dream
Seen the light through the cracks and seams
Witnessed the same light beam off the top of a stream
Then I realize it's all just a dream
I snap out of it
And I am back to the reality of murder and crack fiends.
In the Alpha and Omega of my life
I am born and will die with my eyes retracted
So I am blind to the death being added and life subtracted.
I cry when I'm born, you cry when I die
But while I'm alive
I am given the heart to try
Yet, never get the chance to give the world a glance
At my prophecy in advance.
So today I prepare to die
Ask God to cleanse me of my sins
Show the world that my dream has potential today
Just in case tomorrow's too late
And my dream ends...
