Much Too Young

by Jen-Jen   Dec 14, 2005

Similar to my poem about not drinking and driving, just changed around so it talks more about speed and not wearing your seatbelt
-----------------------------

He was only 18,
Much too young.
But he wanted to go out,
And have some fun

He was leaving a party
And he got into his car
He never put on his seatbelt
"It's okay I'm not going that far"

He was driving down the road
He was going much too fast
It only took a second,
Who knew it'd be his last

If only he had being going slower
And had put on his seatbelt
He'll never be able to know
All the pain the people felt

I pray for his parents,
It must have hurt to hear the news;
That their son got in an accident
While he was out on a cruise

When you're driving
And you think going fast is a thrill
Remember these words
Speed Can Kill

So please be careful,
If you want to stay alive;
Slow down and buckle up
When you're out for a drive...

In loving memory of Michael Corey Fichtel
