The older woman.

by debbie   Dec 14, 2005

I've let him have his freedom,
He'll never take me back.
I've told the biggest lie ever,
Cause I knew he'd leave with that.

He asked me lots of questions,
tears were in his eyes.
And my heart broke into pieces,
as I watched his love for me die.

People will ask " why I done it?"
They'll never understand.
"If you love him, what you doing?"
"you're crazy, you must be mad!"

He wanted to give up everything,
to make me happy and not feel blue.
Which I knew in years he'd regret,
Bring resentment, sorrow too.

Better to let him walk away,
then end up hating if he stayed.
It won't be long, I know that too,
That he'll love another and to her be true.

Great poem, really touching, you should also put it under love poems, because everybody must read this. If the story is true, then I feel sorry for you, I admire your strengh. I wish I had as much.
The way you wrote the poem, it was just touching, I would have to invernt a new word to describe how brilliant it was/is
