Dark Angel in Waiting

Darkness kindled my life with pain,
The only thing that I desired,
The only thing that still remains.

There’s so much I have to tell,
About my times of happiness and pain,
But I have no courage to explain, so I hold them close and hope all will be well

For I am a dark angel in waiting,
Not knowing where it is I stand,
I don’t know who I am, I’m forever loving and hating.

I have foreseen much in my days,
Now at present I feel so lost,
Where do I go from here? Its hopeless it seems I have lost my way.

I believed that in time my heart would heal,
But that seems so wrong,
I’ve tried seeking help, but no one seems to understand how I feel.

I’m a dark angel in waiting,
I feel as though I am being tortured,
Broken wings and broken inside, I’m tired of all the berating.

I thought that some day I could reach for the sky,
But now I am forever falling,
I cry endless tears at night and ask myself why.

Empty I seem and with each day that comes to pass,
I am always questioning, wondering,
“Will this cease to last?”

I am a dark angel in waiting,
Hoping somehow everything will be okay,
My darkened days seem to be dimmer; nothing more seems to be elating.

When it seems as though I’ve found happiness,
There’s always pain to be found,
It brings me back to where I once stood feeling lost and distressed.

Perhaps I am wrong,
To be doubtful and wary,
Alas it’s become so hard to find some way to be strong.

I’m a dark angel in waiting,
Condemned to walk alone,
Enchained to confinement, I need to be set free,
For now I shall remain here, a dark angel in waiting.
