I found a toad in my backyard.
I got attached and named him Bernard.
He croaked really loudly and jumped onto the street.
A bus came by, so that night, my family had a rare treat.

I saw a cat on the other side of the road.
I thought I should leave him alone, or he'd up like my poor little toad.
But, I couldn't help it, so I decided to walk over to him.
Who knew cats cold be so skiddish? He jumped up and dug his claws into my skin.
I didn't know what to do, so I smacked him pretty hard.
He fell onto the road and has hit by a car.

I spotted a puppy on the OTHER side of the street.
He was cute, but looked cold and had nothing to eat.
I called him over from the other side.
As he was crossing, a car came. No place to hide.
That day he was struck and his number was up.
May you rest in peace, my poor, squished, little pup!
