He Hits Her

by Samantha   Dec 17, 2005

He hits her sometimes
Under the moons milky glow,
Her screams of terror are so loud
You would imagine I would know.

He beats her over and over
But she tries so hard to stay strong,
Their life has been all a lie
Who would've thought things would go so wrong?

Maybe if he had stayed sober
She wouldn't be on the floor,
Getting her faced smashed in
And trying to brace herself for more.

Their kids are upstairs crying
Hoping that their mom is ok,
They know that this will never change
No matter how hard they pray.

In the morning everything is fine
Its like nothing happened at all,
The only thing that shows it was real
Are the blood stains on the wall.

She tries to continue with her life
He is not yet in jail,
For now she is alright
But tomorrow is another tale...

Overall, very good. I would try not to start a line with words like.. the, and, or, but ... to me it seems as though these little words interrupt the flow, but that is just my opinion.

Overall, good job. Though it is a sad poem it is a message that needs to be heard by many.
