Pilgrimage To Sanctuary

by RainbowSlider   Dec 17, 2005

Grab my hand dear friend
and firmly clasp
your hand in mine
and together we will
reach sanctuary together.
I feel your body shake
and the trembling
that runs through you
and offer you this hug
to quieten the beating
of your quickening heart
with your blood racing.
Calm down my friend
just a few more miles
and a few more hills
and we will be at sanctuary.
Tell me of your loss
and I will tell you of mine.
Let us share the hurt
and the pain as we walk
the long road to sanctuary.
From sanctuary to sanctuary
is a hard road to travel
but we will make it my friend
and some day the pain will lessen
and the hurt won't be as bad.
Your hand feel so good in mine
as I am sure mine does in yours
and I am so glad you are my friend.
Who would make the trip with me
and who could I ask
if it was not for you?
Smile through the tears
and let our heart rejoice
for this bond of friendship
that we have as we trudge
through the snow in our walk
to sanctuary and the comfort of friends.
Hear the snow crunch
as we walk through
the miles and feel
the hills as we walk up them.
Just a few more minutes
and we will reach sanctuary.
Look, my friend do you see it?
There is sanctuary
just over that next hill.
We are getting close
and I can already
feel the pull of sanctuary
and can't you see my smile
and oh what a beautiful smile
you have my friend.
Open up the door
guardians of sanctuary
and lets us in.
At last my friend
we have made it
to sanctuary
and we can warm ourselves
by the glowing fire
of the welcoming friends.
I told you we would make
this pilgrimage to sanctuary.
