Heaven and Hell

Tortured souls,
with no escape,
angels hidden,
behind the dark cape.
Dying people.
reaching out for a hand,
blocked from view,
from all the dirt and sand.
Masks are everywhere,
no one is real,
and nobody cares,
now anybody else feels.
We step over each other,
to reach our goal,
yet with each step we take,
we lost part of our soul.
With the angel on our shoulder,
the devil in our ear,
how come it's only,
the one we can hear?
In this game we play,
we don't lose or win,
it's just a game of our morals,
a game of our sins.
The right choice is hard,
not easy to make,
and that's why people,
make the biggest mistakes.
They go for what's easy,
not always what's right,
with the devil guiding them,
into darkness not light.
Our angels are dying,
the devil takes control,
and each time we side with him,
he takes part of our soul.
Pretty soon there will be nothing,
no side left to pick,
when the devil rules,
with his sharp pointy stick.
Swimming in fire,
just embers not stars,
when the angels tried to warn us,
the devil covered us in scars.
Cause we went for what was easy,
not what was worth the fight,
and for that choice,
we will be swimming all night.
So next time look hard,
at the angel behind the mask,
and think about your options,
before you complete any task.
So think about what you're doing,
before you walk by,
someone sitting in pain,
with a single tear in their eye.
Break off from the heard,
and just lend an ear,
give them acceptance,
don't add to their fear.
So think long and hard,
about what's right and not just simple,
and your angel will carry you,
with a smile and a dimple.
It will carry you up high,
and treat you like a king,
because you rose above the struggle,
and still refused to sting.
