MY ESCAPE

My escape came wrapped in a smile,
My escape has been THERE for awhile.
He eases my worries and pain,
By not always sheltering me from the rain.
He knows what to say to bring light to my life;
And sometimes his words cut like a knife.
He does not know that his coldness scares me,
So sometimes, very often, I let him be.
I am not complaining only speaking the truth;
Though sometimes jokingly, he is still rude.

My escape came wrapped in a smile,
My escape might be ONLY for awhile.
We each have our secrets and doubts,
I just wish I knew what his were about.
He knows I enjoy his stutter;
And sometimes I hate to be a bother.
He does not know that I've started a rumor;
That he does, SERIOUSLY, have a sense of humor.
Remembering all the crazy text messages I've sent
This person I speak of is my dearest friend.

My escape came wrapped in a smile;
And I wish he'd STAY for while.
He does not speak as openly as me;
He does not understand I wish he could see.
He does not care what I think;
And secretly my heart does sink.
He does not SAY, "Friend, I've missed you."
So deep down inside I feel bad when I do.
He use to speak of his other friends;
And I know his attention, for them, he did lend.
He might not know that I think he's great;
And he, being my friend, is just my fate.

My escape came wrapped in a smile;
And I know he WON'T STAY for awhile.
He does not know that I fear the worse;
Me caring too much...is my curse.
About me, I think he doesn't care;
But I do! And that is what I can't bare.
He does not know that he is my muse;
Someone that I never want to lose.

My escape came wrapped in a smile;
And now he's been GONE for awhile.
We don't see or speak like we use to;
And other friendships he will start anew.
I know he will get sick of me one day;
And eventually throw me away.
I believe that it will be EASY for him,
Knowing what he knows, seeing what I've been.

SO, now I say good-bye, hopefully not forever;
My Friend, One day, I will forget you...NEVER!
