Let's live

by libby   Dec 18, 2005

We got naked together.
I wanted to
LIVE!
and I yelled it with such
passion that you had to
comply. I guess if you want to be
technical, we weren't really naked,
but close enough.
The hard, abrasive snow still burned and chewed
at our skin where it counts, forbidding
our desperate attempts to make
some kind of mark, to construct an angel as a
plea to heaven to keep us
alive.
It was the strangest thing that I have ever done,
yet one of the most satisfying.
I offered myself in the most
complete way I know how -
to the sky
to the ground
to the entire earth
to the weak gravity of that vibrant
thing
that coils within us all and somehow prevents us
from falling away
(it's the best god I have)
to my confidence
to my timidity
to all my twisted contradictions
to my whole self
to you.
I suppose you can squeeze all
the spirituality
that your mind can hold
from the moment,
but the reality remains that we\'re just
kids being kids
and damn well making the most of it.

Some of the most mature of people are still the childish. I found this poem amusing, and like all your others I enjoyed reading it, and read it with a smile

You seem like a really excitable passionate person. a bit of a breath of fresh air really, a lot of poets on here can be a little staid, including myself!
