A Heart's Desire...

She sat on her bed
Wondering where she went wrong
Crying her eyes out, she feared this moment all along

Barely hanging on, what little hope was left, was getting her by
All the mixed signals
All the wrong reasons why

Avoiding him, she was afraid of how he would feel
She knew he was perfect
She knew her feelings for him were real

Emotions built up, she had to find out the truth
Her heart was afraid
But in her mind she knew

She built the courage up, to say what needed to be said
She told him her heart's desire
He told her he liked her best friend instead

She lost what was left of her hope
She didn't know what to do
Her heart hurt, pain was all she knew

She managed to keep her cool, she wouldn't let him see her cry
She managed to fake a smile
And then the tears fell from her eyes
