A Diamond In The Rough

by Barbara   Dec 19, 2005

Kind of like a diamond in the rough.
A beat up rock with scratches and scuffs.
But what they don't see is the true beauty,
that lies beyond the diamond in the rough.

So beat up and cheap.
Not knowing what lies underneath.
Something good and pure.
Not just a diamond in the rough.

That's how most view me.
They look but they don't see
what I'm like deep inside.
Just like a diamond in the rough.

It's easier they don't look inside.
So I can keep inside and keep my pride.
A diamond that will stay,
a diamond in the rough.

I really like this poem, and it's true because people don't know what's inside of you. Keep writing. 5/5
