I sit and look out
At what we've become
The stars and stripes dull
No longer we are one.
I see young men begging
For a bit of spare change
A young woman crying
In the grip of her claimed love.
There's a child screaming
Watching her mother get raped
And a teen soaked in his blood
Flowing from his wrists
Drugs, sex and violence,
This country's out of control
And yet I do not
But sit and look out
