I Miss You

I Miss You

Though I had just seen you with my eyes for the first time,
I realized at that very moment you were here to stay.
Seeing that even while you were hurting,
You made sure everybody else was okay.

Whether it rain or shine,
Through good times and bad.
Always a shoulder to cry on,
Through times that were depressing and sad.

Your heart so great and kind,
Full of joy, spreading like wildfire.
I’m thankful to have had a father like you,
Who I can look up to and admire.

I knew you were truly an angel,
Sent from god to look after me.
The first words I can remember you saying,
Came from your soft calming voice saying you love me.

Knowing you were someone I could count on,
Right from the start.
By my side in every battle,
You said to me how nothing could ever make us part.

Always to forgive and forget,
Being one of the many things you lived by.
Never to hold a grudge against anyone,
For they are here one day and next day might die.

That not being the only thing,
You have said to me great words of wisdom.
And without you being here by my side,
This home of ours is like an empty kingdom.

Cold brick walls,
Put together with concrete.
And a hollow inside,
With icy cement below our feet.

You were the warmth,
Of this cheerful household.
But now that you are gone,
Not only home, but hearts have gone cold.

Miss you with all my heart daddy,
I’m sorry a this is all I’m giving.
But without you or your love,
For me this life is not worth living.
