The Ocean's Choir

by Aidyn   Dec 21, 2005

On the edge of water, deep
Let me cool your thoughts to sleep
Love decides no boundaries
Listen, my love, and come to me.

I wait upon the rocky shoals
Where sea foam dances, leaps and rolls
Moonlight shows what I can't see
Listen, my love, and come to me

The rhythmic waves conceal a beat
That pounces with the water sheet
The gulls fly, mournful, sing my plea--
Listen, my love, and come to me

The salty spray will not confide
The sandy place that I reside
Hidden, so? I'll always be.
Listen, my love, and come to me

My image lies in tide pools, low
Among faded shells of long ago
Ancient patterns hold the key
Listen, my love, and come to me

Who recites this poem, in your opinion? A deadly siren? A lonely and expectant person waiting for their companion to return? I'd like to know what you think...I'm personally leaving it ambiguous. Thanks for reading!

    Wow.omagosh.it's....BEAUTIFUL!!!
i honestly am in love with it.i think it can be either a person waiting for their lover or a siren or summing like that.personally i love the idea of a person waiting for a lover to come back.sounds all nice and ballad-y, but it's really...nice...ambiguous the way it is.

Interestingly enough, i actually got an image of the BEACH itself (or the beach "experience") - and a longing for someone to come visit it....kind of sad, really, considering the winter season is upon us

but that's besides the point - what i should have said right off the start is: GOOD LORD! i didn't know you could write so well!

it's even got perfect meter and interesting rhyme (not like the blassé classics "love, dove" and all that razmatazz...)

your writing is WICKEDLY awesome, Aidyn, man...and i've looked through some of your other pieces, too - it's not just a fluke or anything: you're GOOD, alright...but i'm sure you knew that with all the positive feedback you're getting anyway.

thanks for giving me the link
