Hard love

The pain has subsided
I've moved on from him
but the marks of his hatred
have lived on since then

it was hard to let go
harder to forget
all the things we did
that i seem to regret

its so hard to tell
whose honest these days
its so hard to trust
in so many ways

its hard to believe them
when they say "i love you"
its scares you a little
can you be sure its true

when they say those 3 words
it sends a chill down your spine
you feel like crying
as thoughts race your mind

maybe you do believe them
but that scares you even more
because allowing those feelings
opens the door

to get hurt again
and feel months of pain
but think if its real
and the 'love' that you've gained!
