Mountaintop View

by Timothy S   Dec 21, 2005

This is the feeling I get from climbing to the mountaintop
The emptiness clinging to my empty body as time stops
Holding destruction in my hands, hoping for a new beginning
To start over. Open a new life and let me spread my wings
If I could only jump from this high point, but I'd only fall free
Into the oceans I've left behind of the tears unseen
Clenching my fists tightly, holding back everything I've had
Losing all feeling, numb to this old pain, of things going bad
Grab onto the night's hand as she guides me
To the view on the mountaintop that she wants me to see
Standing, soul's naked, see beyond boundaries
Watch my life as it sinks toward the bottom of the stream
Knowing I could've changed it leaves me with empty dreams
Spiteful tongue, hollow insides, I'm only a human being
Help me find myself again, give me the air I need
Be my heart, be my wings, help me fly from here
Jump from the mountaintop, wishing to be free
