Lesson to be learned (song)

Lesson to be learned (song)

She used to dream that some one cared,
She used to dream that he was there,
She dreamed his love filled her days,
She dreamed that happiness was there to stay...

But then her days were filled with dark,
Eclipse of her broken heart,
Empty, void of all good things,
But in the darkness she will sing...

*Chorus*
Nothing matters any more,
I thought I had it sorted,
But now I'm not too sure,
I thought I was safe,
Only to be burned,
I guess my life's a lesson to be learned.

Mat remembers that day his dad left home,
The empty nights, so alone,
And then his mum left, only for good,
So he survived the best her could...

His dad had bad habits, he'd always lie,
His mum was hopeless, she never tried,
Their family empty, void of all good things,
And through the darkness he would sing...

(Chorus)

Jess went through school all alone,
Each day hardened her heart of stone,
I saw her, I'd watch her cry,
I'd assure her, refill her heart with lies...

I was cruel to play the field,
Then run back to become her shield,
Our friendship empty, void of all good things,
But through the darkness she could sing...

(Chorus)

In life there are no guarantees,
Just a gap to fill and a crowd to please,
Desperate respect we fight to earn,
And hopeless love we all seem to yearn...

Just blinding hate and paralyzing fear,
Heart-wrenching love and stinging streaks of tears,
Life's seemingly empty, void of all good things,
But through the darkness we will sing...

Nothing matters any more,
Thought we had it sorted,
But how can we be sure?
How will we be safe;
If we keep on getting burned?
I guess life's just a lesson to be learned...

Well done! This is awesome! I especially love this stanza:

"But then her days were filled with dark,
    Eclipse of her broken heart,
Empty, void of all good things,
But in the darkness she will sing..."

    Just wow!

Oh and I also liked this stanza as well:

"I was cruel to play the field,
Then run back to become her shield,
Our friendship empty, void of all good things,
But through the darkness she could sing..."
