Light of Hope

She finds salvation as she writes
Till comes the dawning sun
Her soul is lifted far away
Her heart and body one

A single tear her heaven sheds
For the words in which she writes
And angry the thunder in her eyes
For the losing battle she fights

Alone she waits for love to come
She calls but no one hears
Childhood memories now just a myth
For a child is filled with fear

Struggle pursues her life in vain
A struggle to survive
Her treacherous thoughts and secrets kept
For happiness she strives

She paints her Mum a picture
Of how they used to be
And waits so hopeless in the dark
For the Lord to set her free

For Daddy cares not for her love
Yet at night she cries his name
But family is yet another myth
Another endless game

Brought up alone by two different worlds
Both right with motives wrong
Neither cares to call her name
And care not the path she’s on

A monster taints her secrets deep
Of which no one else shall know
The night he spoilt her dreams
Was the night that she let go

Years have passed her by with shame
For she lost everything she loved
For when the monster tore her apart
Where was God above?

Her pen finds wisdom on her paper
And pours her feelings raw
The ink smeared softly down her page
From the tears she cried before

She writes a letter of truths and fears
Then she blows it to the wind
And prays that God will read it
And forgive her for her sins

Again she writes a letter
That she intends not to send
To remind her that her fears have died
All thanks to the light of a friend
