Turtledove

While crawling across the land
I got tipped over in the sand.
She flew to me as a friend
and got me right side again.

I noticed her broken wing
and thanked her for her comforting.
I told her she could ride on my back
till she could get back on track.

I told her sometimes I can't see
because the shell is too much for me.
She told me to stay out of the sand
and to get back on dry land.

Have you seen fresh water in the air?
Yes, she said it is just over there.
I could smell the water just not where
but with her direction I got to there.

She took to flight back in the air
and circled in an arc with care.
I took my fill of water till quenched
and thought to myself what a wench.
