Sandcastles

by erratic hippie   Dec 24, 2005

You need no bricks for sandcastles,
They grow with you. Each summer
Thicker, sturdier - not yet secure.

Along the grooves of your palace,
Fingers voyage further,
Carving their own perilous path.

The kingdom rejoices, calling forth
Seashells by the seashore
To come guard the drawbridge.

The horizon slowly pulls the blinds,
While waves gather to tuck in
Your last abandoned fortress.

Hey, Ms. Elena! Wow--that was fast--you're all set up and everything! Anyways, I love this poem so far--just to irritate you, I'm gonna jokingly say "figures--you're a lit student!!" but don't bother taking me seriously. Anyways, I love imagery you've put into this, as well as some cool references. I liked the "seashells by the seashore" line especially. Can't wait to read the rest!
