A Battle Bravely Won

by Ali   Dec 24, 2005

From one school to another
one city to the next
she ran from all her problems
her life was one big test

This test she often failed
as easy as it seemed
reality's harsh warnings
washed away her dreams

She wanted to be perftect
the one who'd done it all
the grades, the college, professional sports
but she'd hit her brick wall

Her struggle came with failure
her biography, not grand
she cried inside with weariness
heart's teardrops on her hand

And lying on her deathbed,
her last breath 'round the bend,
she looked up at her truest friend,
and this she gently said:

"Promise me one promise,
to burn my worn-out form.
And spread throughout this bitter realm,
the tale of a my conform ."

Her life was one big battle,
a battle bravely won.
Though she never reached perfection.
Her soulfulness lives on.
