Religion Is An Escape To Reality

The world needed supervision
And so there was a god
Or so they thought
Maybe there isn't one
Maybe he was just something Made up
So people didn't lose
Hope
And go kill
Themselves
Maybe we would go crazy
If we didn't have something to
Give us hope of a better place
And that in this world of evil
Something good is watching over
Us and helping us
And we have these things
These things are called churches
What are these churches you ask
Well I'm glad you asked that
Question actually
Churches are these places you
Go to worship things that will
Make everything better
They are a place that gives us the
Illusion of hope
It seems real
But it's not really there
We believe in it
But it's not really real
It's like Santa clause
We tell people he's real
Because it gives them hope and
Makes them happy
We believe in god
For the same reason
But in the end
We just end up in tears and angry
At our moms and dads
And that anger goes away
Because we get older and decide
It's no big deal
After all it's only once a year
And then
If you think about it
There are some of us
Us things
Us people
That go to this church place
All our lives
Almost everyday
And they believe
And they worship
And they prey for a better day
And does that day come
Was there ever a day where
Hope and peace and no war
Existed
And everything was fine
Violence stopped and we just
Died peacefully
People cared about one another
And starvation was finally eliminated
No
No there wasn't
And there won’t be
I'm sorry if I am insulting your
Beliefs
Don't get angry if I am crushing
Your hope or making it
Stronger
I may seem like a very nonreligious
Person
Well it's true
I'm not
But I believe in some things
I am not quite sure what I believe In right now
I don't believe anyone goes to Hell
I'm not sure what god really does
I'm not even sure what the devil
Really does
So here I am
Someone very nonreligious
Telling you
Your religion is wrong
Even though
I don't even have much of one
Teachers at school tell us
Violence is not the answer
But what is this thing
This thing called war
And why is it that we have it over
Things as scared and good as
Our religion
So you're telling me
That we are so caught up in
Something that's not even
Scientifically proven and we can't call
A fact
That we resort to killing other
People over it
And why is it that we wont go to
H*ll for that
Why is it that we are all not
Damned
I ask you this
I want an answer
We make up excuses like
Oh we fight for our country
And they started it we are only
Defending ourselves
Bull
That is pure bull
If killing another person for any
Reason would damn us to H*ll
Then those whom have been in
War are going to H*ll
I on the other hand don't really
Believe that we go to H*ll
I do believe however
That we shouldn't be raising our
Children on religion and belief
Let them figure it out on there own
You can tell them of god
And the devil
But I warn you
Don't pick their religion for them
That's like saying they can't think
For themselves
Can you think for yourself
Who told you what to believe in
Oh yes that's right your parents
Or grandparents

Are you trying to tell me you
Told yourself what to believe in
If this is true very good but
I'm not sure if I believe it yet
I was raised to be Christian
But I only went to church when I
Was very young
And I don't remember it
We don't go to church now luckily
We don't pray before meals
We don't often speak of religion
I wasn't raised on religion very much
I just study people and their beliefs
How they react to things and what
They think
My outcome of all this is that
People
Humanity
Is very mean
I do not like it
People are unintelligent
Cruel
Close minded
And much more
I try to see things from the view
Points of many people
And I can understand why they
See things that way
People are supposed to be equal
But we do not treat each other equal
The world is supposed to be a Wonderful place
But it is not
But what are we supposed to be
