I needed to laugh when I was sad,
When I needed someone to trust in,
Someone to care for me,
Someone I could love.

When I needed a shoulder to lean on
You told me to never hesitate and know that I could call you about my problems.
You hurt me before,
But I also hurt you.

When no one else was,
You never laughed at my dreams for life,
I could truly tell you anything.
You never judged me by my past of family problems.

I needed a hug, and it came from you.
And when my heart was broke,
You were the one to comfort me.
You understood my past and present.

I needed a hand to show me the way,

You brought me from the dark night,

When I needed help with a decision
When I needed someone to walk me to class,
That person was you, not one of my friends.
When I needed a friendship, our's grew stronger.
When no one understood my life,
