Tough Love

by RainbowSlider   Dec 26, 2005

What love is the greatest love
and that hurts the worse to give
none so sweet with such pain
than the tough love of a friend.
It says to you I see your pain
but do you see your pain
that you cause to yourself?
Do you see yourself as you
truly are?
Can you not forgive yourself
for all your faults
and learn to be reborn
without the misery?
Can you admit that
you have a problem
and need to deal with it?
It says you need
to heal yourself
on your own
and get help
or live in misery.
The choice is yours
whether you get better
or choose to accept a lie.
I can not help you
if you choose not
to accept the truth
and must turn you
to a higher power
than mine.
Even though I love you
I can not accept you
until you change
your ways.
When you learn
to accept the truth
the pain will begin to heal.
When you learn to love
yourself maybe others
can love you back.
If you could look
beyond your pain
and see the craving
that needs to feed
on your drug of choice,
then you might be able
to grow again
to get some maturity.
I turn you over
to the care of the one
that knows ourself better
than we do know us.
When you are able
to admit you are unstable
and reach for help
that you need so bad
from your own kind
who are suffering
then you can help
each other grow
one day at a time.
