Curtains of Lace

CURTAINS OF LACE...

He sits in the corner
Staring me down
Looks me over
with a dark frown

I can't describe
that dark, dark face
Those fingers entwined
In my curtains of lace

Twisted with hate
his greed consumes him
I watch as he crawls
My head starts to swim

I cannot scream
Nor can I run
Glued to this spot
He begins his fun

Where are his horns
That spaded tail
Where's the fire
and red hot hail

Yet here he is
Beside me now
I must escape
Oh but how

He isn't a form
Nor shadow or skin
But still he lives
Breathes out and in

There's only one
Able to save me
The opposite of
This creature I see

I start to speak
The thing leans in
Trying to hear
what I'm saying to him

"Be gone you fool
You have no power here
I am the protected
My Saviour is near"

The beast recoils
But holds his ground
MY fun has just started
My confidence found

you know who I am
You know I have power
To him alone
you MUST bow and cower

It rises it's head
that hideous thing
He tries his best
But he's nothing to bring

My room lights up
The lace curtains blow
They shine like the sun
They dip and they flow

I see those hands
Reach for me
those nail pierced hands
that come to set me free

He holds me close
Vanquishes my fears
Speaks to me softly
Wipes away my tears

Then his voice
Like nothing you've heard
Booms out toward
That miserable nerd

The devil becomes
Like water under
The King of Kings
Voice of thunder

Gently I wake
From my sleep
Blink away slumber
Inhale deep

But I feel a tickle
Against my cheek
Slowly I turn
And start to speak

But there's no demon
No darkness, or night
Just curtains of lace
And beautiful light...
