Eyes Wide Shut

by HungatMidnight   Dec 28, 2005

You are ashamed of me, I know,
I can see it in your eyes,
Every time you lecture me it shows,
Past your words and hollow lies,
You insist on containing me,
Setting guidelines to my feelings,
Yet past your oblivion you can't see,
My very soul harbors the hurting,
Your threats and endless words,
Shoving my mind into further pain,
My sanity you continue to murder,
Your shaping of me commences in vain,
You might as well stop wasting your time,
I'll never be who you want me to be,
Your perfect little girl has lost her shine,
This is hopeless, because you'll never see,
I just wish you could open your eyes,
And see me for who I really am,
Please unbind my soul from these ties,
And stop seeming to condemn,
Stop looking and start seeing,
Look into my heart and not my being,
Open your arms or shut your eyes,
But stop telling me that you understand when I know that's a lie.
