Roadtrip!

by Katrina Tamayo   Dec 28, 2005

Bring the family together,
Call your cousins.

Gather them one by one,
Or by the dozens.

Fill the gas tank,
Buy the snacks.

Let's all follow the railroad tracks.

Watch the trees go by,
Hear the baby cry.

Drive past the zooming cars,
Read the signs,
Watch the road's white lines.

Lay back and relax as time goes by.

Seconds turn to minutes,
Minutes turn to hours,
As we head toward our destination.

Finally,
We get there without question or hesitation.

We see the sights,
The city lights,
And the people who party all night.

The days get longer,
The feeling gets stronger,
We feel the need to go home.

Come together,
Withstanding any weather,
And we leave none alone.

Inch by inch,
Yard by yard,
Mile by mile.

The world around you becomes familiar,
A tree,
A person,
Even a stone.

That's when you realize that you're home sweet home.

Well, this is my third poem on this site.
It's not a sad poem like my first two,
but I found this poem in my journal so I thought I'd post it even though it's a bit childish.
