As you lie next to me asleep
I look at your body,
Watching as the moonlight pours itself across your back,
Dancing in the joy of your creation.
You are a beautiful creation and I remember life before you:
So bleak, so ignorant of what real love was.
You came and rescued me,
My light in the darkness.
Now my eyes are drawn to your face,
The curl of your lashes resting upon your cheeks,
The dignified shape of your nose and your lips--
Oh! Those lips so soft and gentle ,
I must have kissed them a thousand times--
The way your breath is pushed through them
In this rhythmic beat that lulls me to sleep.
I love to lay next to you,
Our bodies touching, together, unified.
Here is where I am complete:
Next to you, My Light.
