New Year's hopes.

by Steven Beesley   Dec 30, 2005

New Year's hopes:

Yet another year is about to pass,
and another about to begin.
More gray hairs will yet appear,
each day seems to glide on so quickly.

Time to contemplate on events in life this past year.
Securing more wisdom from experiences both bitter and sweet.
Learning yet again from mistakes,
fortified for the coming future.

New friendships made along the way,
many of which shall last forever.
Some dreams are cast for the New Year as it now approaches.

New hopes and ventures over the horizon.
New Year's wishes for all of mankind to live together in peace and harmony.
Remove all greed and hate,
learn to share as brothers and sisters.

These words are all but a dream,
but dreams are what life is made of.
So spread a message of love and hope, so our children may have a better world to live in.

Glad to read some new poems of yours! i loved the opening stanza! it made me smile when i read about the gray hairs. i guess it's mostly because i'm driving with my parents right now and when i scare my mom she's checking the mirror for gray hairs. that line just brings up great memories!

love the lines about the dreams and life as well! dreaming is a great thing. the poem was beautiful! definately about making this world a better place.
