Silver Slumbers

by Weeping Wolf   Dec 30, 2005

*i know the title is similar to the Beatles "Golden Slumbers" but I'm not copying anyone.-

fill up your tired and worn eyes
with tears you've been waiting to cry
no more holding back its time.

listen to my voice
listen to my lullabys
dream of lonely nights
and sorrowful skies
as you drift into eternity
I'll mourn what has come to be

my eyes grow heavy with tiredness
i still stare at you feeling drowsy
Soon I too will fall into silver slumbers
and have to look back and sadly remember

Memories of us fill my mind
nightmares of passing time
silver and cold, glass and gold
cover my intoxicated soul
mercy-loving perfuming night
slip me into another fantasy
that I'll live to see another day.

silver slumbers cause your tears and cries.
knowing never again will you see a new sunrise.
let me whisper you this lullaby...
sleep my dying darling...
these last tears you cry are useless.
you can't halt night's deathly persistence.

I was actually pretty emotional before reading this poem. I just clicked this poem of yours, I was holding back tears, till I read

fill up your tired and worn eyes
with tears you've been waiting to cry
no more holding back its time.

And I just couldn't hold it back anymore, I just cried and cried and read and read. This poem really touched me. I won't forget this poem. And how it made me feel. It touched me. Very beautiful. It's amazing. Thank you, for sharing this with us.

I ran out a long time ago of good things to say about you. You reek of talent. I absolutely love everything you write! I especially like this one because it's a style I like, it's more about flow then rhyme scheme. Great job as always!
