Who are the strong ones?

A young girl cries in her room tonight
She runs a blade across her wrists
Her boyfriend broke up with her today

A little girl lies in a hospital bed
She's dying of cancer, she's only six
She puts on a happy brave face

A lad sets his parents house on fire
He thinks he didn't get enough attention
He walks away. Feeling satisfied

A boy in Africa sits next to his brother
His parents have both died from diseases
He stays alive to look after his brother

A man stands on a bridge and curses god
He blames him for his alcohol problems
He jumps, leaving a wife and two kids behind

A woman says no to drugs even though she's depressed
She has a husband and two children at home
She'll carry on because they need her

Who are the strong people in this poem?
The people who suffer a bit and give up
Or the ones who suffer a lot but carry on?
These are the ones we forget to pray for and help

We forget to pray for them, because they're still here
We only see the people who fall, we don't see the ones still standing
So tonight, remember to pray also, for the ones suffering
Who still remain strong
