Like a drug

by Lenny   Jan 2, 2006

Like a drug- you consume me,
Blanket my eyes,
I always want more,
And nobody tries,
To stop me from taking,
Because nobody knows,
Of this blindfold of love,
Your eager hand throws,
Ive tasted the fruit,
Forbidden to me,
Yet I go back for more,
And pluck you from the tree,
To sample your flavors,
Im not all that keen,
But the choice is not mine,
Its beginning to seem,
Just like that drug,
Im addicted to you,
If youre forced upon me,
Then what can I do?
Youve taken me in,
Youve fed me the meal,
And like new home to a pet,
You begin to appeal,
But what I cant see,
Is the invisible chain,
Your quietly binding,
That causes no pain,
The transparent cage,
You place round my heart,
Your own imitation,
Of Cupids dart,
Through puppies brown eyes,
I stare up at you,
A stranger to all,
You say and do,
Youve inserted a chip,
In the back of my head,
To make me roll over,
Fetch, Or play dead,
Is this what you want?
A machine to control,
Have you no intent,
To reach for my soul?
The decision is yours,
You hold all the cards,
Do you dare smash the cage,
And walk over the shards?
There is no barrier,
I have to create,
So why not risk my soul,
To pass through that gate,
Tear down your walls!
Let me know the real you,
And then, only then,
Can I belong to you too.
