Why Daddy

by Cari   Jan 3, 2006

Why,
Daddy,
did
you leave us?
I tried to be
good.
Was it me,
Daddy?

The tears of a six year old girl come rushing back to me.
I remember now.
The pain of Mommy telling her sweet baby that she had to stay with her.
No more Daddy.

Why,
Daddy,
did
you leave us?
I tried to be
good.
Was it me?

Poor little girl didn't understand.
Daddy didn't leave because of her.
Daddy had a girlfriend.
He has a new life now.

Daddy come
back.
Please don't
stay away.
Daddy,
I love you.

That little girl grew up.
She grew up with a Mommy who drank her pain away.
Daddy did that to her.
Mommy could never help her with her homework.
She could never tuck her daughter into bed.
To tipsy to kiss goodnight.

Daddy,
come home.
Don't leave me
here alone.
Daddy,
I love you!

That little girl isn't a baby anymore.
She understands.
Her Daddy left her Mommy for another woman.
The other woman.
Mommy thought it was her fault.

Daddy,
why?
Were we not
good enough?
You owe an
explanation.

Little girls give up their childish dreams when they become young ladies.
She gave up her love and hope for her beloved father's return.
He was gone.
No longer did she care.
If she did, she dared not show it.
So now she asks:

Daddy,
don't come home.
We're OK now.
We don't need
you.
We can do this
without you.
Just one more
thing,
Why Daddy?

I like it, the flow was a bit stuttered though but Im sure when you read it it has the proper pattern...same with mine. It demonstates alot of emotions and is pretty powerful. Good job...

Hey, that was pretty good. I liked the techinique of repitition and how you developed the story with age, as the little grew up and understood a little bit more and stuff. It was a good read. I've got one sort of like it, not quite but the dad does end up going out of the picture. So I can relate to it. Nice job :)
