Unrequited.

by Steven Beesley   Jan 3, 2006

Unrequited:

Bereft of hope!
All this time his love is nonreciprocating.
yet he carries on each day,
even after so many lonesome years.

Still loving her, so much more.
He would rather suffer the
worst then to be away from her for one moment.
So as a close friend he continues in a hopeless task.

Continues in the hope she may realize,
that he has been waiting and loving patiently.
Only caring and loving from afar,
Wanting only the best for her.

Never demanding anything of her,
even though they see each other day after day.
Loving her secretly and quietly,
with all his heart; such painful unrequited love.

Always doing things and caring,
more then most close friends would.
Not asking much in return,
but a simple glance, a smile will keep him happy.

Yet he continues his lovelorn days,
worshiping his Goddess.
Keeping his hopes and desires within.
Deprived of love from the love of his life.

A quiet quest, possibly an impossible quest?
Never to make his love feel awkward,
nor to anger her in anyway.
His wish only for her happiness.

So caring, so unselfish;
but yet this one way love remains unanswered.
He will still carry on,
carry on even if tomorrow were the last.

Sacrifice the world for her should she ask,
all the time keeping his feelings inside with a
hope that one day she does finally realize;
her deepest true love has always been right by her side.

Every cloud has a silver lining,
will there be any happiness in this tale?
No one knows, the story still unfolds.
So do all his hopes!

But as long as she has eyes for another,
all he can do is sit quietly aside!
Inside all his lost dreams and lost hopes.
Continue to be the best unselfish friend there could ever be!

This is sad, yet sweet, and so very beautiful. I know what it's like to have to stand quietly by and the love of your life doesn't even know the true depth of your feelings. The poem is pure perfection. It's filled with such quiet passion and heartache. I love it.

This is amazing, you did such a wonderful job. So full of emotion and its very sad, but still has that glimmer of hope. Just a very beautifully written piece.

Thanks for the comments, but I may still change this as I feel that there have been some rather repeated use of some words.
