He Can't Save Her

He Can't Save Her

The dark fire burning bright,
as black smoke grows thick.
On her bedroom floor she lies,
overdosed on pain killers.

She couldn't stand the pain,
heartbroken from her love lost.
He died many moons ago,
and left her all alone.

After his death she broke down,
ate nothing for days at a time.
She lost the only thing she loved,
and now she has gone insane.

Calming herself with many drugs,
she thought she was almost cured.
Until the day she heard his name,
she tried to hang herself but failed.

He was a hero in her eyes,
working for the fire department.
He was strong, bold and caring,
the perfect man for her.

The fire that sparked for them,
glows brighter in her room.
she can't escape the fire,
there is no one to save her.

Poison in her liver from drinking,
scars on her arms and wrist.
All consequences of losing her love,
who was engulfed by flames.

He can't save her now..
