The dying light

by Shædow Poet   Jan 7, 2006

So vivid, I gave the sun a good fight
His ego was most overpowering.
My light, it almost glimmered a silver
Or the shards of uranium oxide.
My brother, he said I must have witnessed God
For no one could continuously smile
Once said, I would reply sweetly:
“One can’t get lost with such a bright guidance”.

I awoke once during a night,
Coughing up imaginary blood.
I must have been dying, for there was no glimmer
I was defeated by the moonlight.
My brother, he shed a tear at my dullness
Cried that I had finally found my enemy
I smelled the vodka, and slurred:
“My enemy is reality.”

Never did I try and reclaim my light
Instead I took prisoner of the lamps.
My faithful brother took a slide
Landing on the pool of globes.
My mother, she shakily questioned
Why I acted like my favorite pet died
And I replied, with smoky breath
“There’s no greater loss than innocence.”

This is....I honestly don't know what to say, but I felt compelled to say something. I've read this over and over and each time, I find I'm at a loss for words.
It's quite profound and very well written.
Take care and keep it up~Holly
