I'm a 90's kid

by quick&painless   Jan 10, 2006

Enough drugs, sex and violence,
I yearn to be simple.
I’m a 90s kid,
I won’t sweat over a pimple.

I’m one of those kids
Who ended every sentence with “not”
Who would get 5 dollars for Christmas
And thought it was a lot.

The kids who watched the care bears,
Ninja turtles, and power rangers,
Who despite what their parents said,
Were always nice to strangers.

Who always had a “Lisa Frank”
Backpack and notebook
And thought a pony to the side
And skorts were the “look”

The kids who were convinced,
That Brain would finally take over
Who could fix any mistake
With the phrase “do-over”

Who know each character
From “saved by the bell”
And were convinced that a timeout
Was the greatest hell.

Who stayed out after dark
To play ghost-in-the-graveyard,
And being a loyal friend
Was never that hard.

The kids who collected pogs
Or owned a skip-it
The kids who always said
“then why don’t you marry it?”

Who collected beanie babies,
And carried around geo-pets.
who wore stick-on earrings
and sucked on FAKE cigarettes

who bought a piece of plastic
called a “slip and slide”
sprayed it down with water,
but was too afraid to try

I’m a 90’s kid,
And I’m not afraid to admit
I’m a 90’s kid
and I’m proud if it.
