The pointless run

by Bradley Peter   Jan 10, 2006

Escaped the retched grip of death
but ended up right back at the start
looked in his eyes and took a breath
as if gazing at a work of art
stood there tall, mighty and proud
ready to make this day my last
as i stood beneath this dark gray cloud
i remembered memories from the past

I'd ran for miles and ran for years
yet he followed my every move
through pain, blood, sweat and tears
the harder I'd ran he'd just improve
this was a battle i would never win
yet i felt compelled to try
through the years i built much sin
but i did everything so's not to die

now stood still-less as if like stone
starring into the nothingness of his eyes
i stood there facing him completely alone
standing strong though of little size
in a blink of an eye i was in his hold
my eyes were now level with his
as he inhaled, my body grew so cold
and he'd taken my life with ease
