Toffee Apple

by Iola   Jan 10, 2006

Waking up, its half past two,
Itching and acing; wondering ‘bout you.
Getting up early and taking that shower.
Overwhelmed by the water of life that’s releasing this desire.

Life’s a toffee apple, sweet and sour.
Life is a toffee apple as I’m taking my shower.
It’s sticky and tricky and stuck in my teeth.
What you see outside, is not what lies beneath.

Headed for work today, faster than the speed of light.
Your stare is sticking in my head, although you’re out of sight.
A bitter taste inside my mouth each time I bite your cheeks.
A sweet sensation on my lips that makes my knees go weak.

Life’s a toffee apple, sweet and sour.
Life is a toffee apple as I’m taking my shower.
It’s sticky and tricky and stuck in my teeth.
What you see outside, is not what lies beneath.

I’m passing this time by licking my mind.
Bitter sweet memories; sticky stuff I left behind.
Taking bits and pieces of that’s clinging to my skin.
Wondering if its love or hate that a bite of this apple will bring?

Life’s a toffee apple, sweet and sour.
Life is a toffee apple as I’m taking my shower.
It’s sticky and tricky and stuck in my teeth.
What you see outside, is not what lies beneath.

Going home from work today with this apple in my throat.
Will it cause my skin to glow or will my heart be left cold?
Sticky sweet or soft and sour – who will know for sure?
And if you take the sticky off, will the apple remain pure?
