The Elegant Flight of A Butterfly

by Simon Hayes   Jan 11, 2006

Hiding among the chrysanthemums
A butterfly prepares
To embark on a journey
And float away her cares

With her beautifully coloured wingspan
Yellow, orange and green
She gracefully spreads her wings
And feels just like a queen

She flutters by some gardens
Floating passed the trees
Briskly glides through parks
And does it with so much ease

Weaving through the flowers
Stopping by each one
Until she is fulfilled
And her hungriness is gone

Bobbing through a corn field
A farm she passes through
Flutters over lakes and ponds
Bridges and fountains too

Finally setting down upon
A warm and peaceful plateau
Until tomorrow when day has come
And places she must go
