The "Popular" Crowd

by Nicholas Kerst   Jan 12, 2006

You wish, you dream, you try to be,
Someone your not, but you can't see,
There stupid, there dumb, there killing themselves,
Soon they'll only exist, in pictures on shelves.

You yearn, you struggle, try to break through,
Refuse to believe that this will only hurt you,
Their fun, their cool, their popular too,
Don't you see somethings wrong, don't you see what they do?

Your imitations, your lies, they actually worked,
Now your hanging out with a crowd of jerks,
You see it all but you don't care,
Even though your part of a group that makes the cops stare.

Stealing, drinking and smoking weed,
It used to be your dream, now its something you need,
You feel it fast as it gets injected,
All of this just to be accepted?

--I feel liek this poem is missing something in between a couple verses...can anyone give me some suggestions?--

Sorry that I can't offer any real suggestions but still I liked this. Of course there's something about it that really caught my interest...Maybe because it's about people who seem cool but in reality aren't. And thanks for your inspiring comments. Do you still stand by what you said in your comment on Masquerade? Good job on this piece.
