Before and After, You

by Janine Fournier   Jan 4, 2004

I see your face, those beautiful eyes
I see that smile, that won't tell me lies

I hear your voice, that makes my heart skip a beat
I hear your words, that make me feel so complete

I touch your hand that fits so well in mine
I touch your arms that will hold me in time

I feel your body keep me warm all night long
I feel your heartbeat, and nothing feels wrong

I taste your skin, a taste so sweet
I taste your breath as our lips meet

I watch what you're doing that doesn't involve me
I watch you go somewhere that I wish I could be

I see your face, those deceitful eyes
I see that smile, that spoke those lies

I hear your voice, that stops my heart
I hear your words, that rip me apart

I reach for your hand, but you won't let it touch mine
I reach for your arms, that held me one time

I feel my body grow so cold inside
I feel my heart disappear with my pride

I watch your feet as you walk away
I watch you look back as I beg you to stay

I taste the bitterness as you tell me "NO"
I taste painful tears as I turn to go.
