Alive Yet Lifeless

As I look at this person in front of me
With no emotion in her eyes
Her skin so pale
I wonder how she can be so lifeless but still alive
Does she feel?
Does she cry?
Or has everything around her just stopped?
Stopped the pain
Stopped the tears
Built a wall around her to keep everything out
What she doesn't realise
Is that the wall has trapped her
Trapped her with bad memories and a haunting past
No escape to freedom
No escape to happiness
And no second chance to enjoy life
The wall she built will remain forever
And she will be stuck
alive yet so lifeless
