One Day

One Day

She's all alone,
She watches the sky.
She thinks of her past,
the clouds stroll by.

She remembers him clearly.
Her eyes swell with tears.
Her life was a mess.
Her heart filled with fears.

The clouds turn gray.
The rain begins to fall.
She has no self-confidence.
She feels so very small.

Her mind begins to wander.
Her heart begins to pawnder.
He creeps back,
back into her thoughts.

He said he loved her,
then blew her off for someone new.
He tried to cover up the lie,
but already she knew.

She yelled at him, "We're through!"
The moment the words escaped her mouth,
was the moment they were regretted.

How stupid she must have been,
the boy who said he loved her,
walking out of sight.

Her heart still hurts.
Her eyes still water.
Her soul still longs,
and her heart still wanders.

Does she ever cross his mind?
Did he ever really care?
Was he truthful in saying,
"I will always be there" ?

One day he will say,
"What happened to the world?
What happened to my life?
What happened to the girl I wanted to call my wife?"

When he asks those sacred questions,
she will return and say,
"The world has changed and will continue to change,
my life has also changed, for the better,
and I'm just waiting for the day when you realize,
I'm with somebody much better."
