Lost In A Television Set

by Nada & Kris   Jan 16, 2006

*Collaboration, Katie started & Nada wrote every other stanza thereafter*

Stolen away from reality
Eyes glued to the screen
Lost within the television set
I can relate to this, it seems

As episodes go by,
And series after another
I realize the truth
my life, an animation

Friends, smiles, betrayal
Broken promises, tears, lost trust
Animation; Yet my reality
Full of hate, love & lust

As another episode goes,
I start to cry at the memory
I try to convince myself it's all a lie
But it's all otherwise, a reality

Stereotypes say television
Is all one big perfect lie
I know better as a tear falls
Start the next episode with a sigh

I see my life running there
Aren't these things based on a world
so true in it's nature,
that's it's almost an irony

Relating my life to each scene
Causes flashbacks in my mind
Digging deeper into the meaning
You can be surprised at what you find

Things from the past
Things from the present
Other the future
Yet you're blinded to see

Final scene for tonight is over
Reminiscing on memories so pure & true
I sit back & surf for another show
Wondering if I'll relate to it too
