If only I'd had the guts
To stick it out when you weren't there.
If only I hadn't tried to end it
Because I was scared I would hurt you.
If only I'd told you to stop when you started
But I didn't want you to.
I wanted you to carry on.
Then I realised you wanted a relationship,
If only I'd thought harder.
Because, deep down, that's what I wanted too.

So please forgive me,
I didn't mean to make you cry.
I made me cry too.
(A plaintive cry to God)
