The Evangelist

The summer's heat intensified
The tent filled beyond capacity
Lost souls looking to be found
Looking for answers, cures and salvation
On the stage he walks, an ego stride
Dressed in white looking pure
Backstage his assistant still feeling his pawing hands
His attempt to free her from temptations

Lining the pockets, fulfilling the greed of one

The laying of the hands, "Heal", he cries "Heal"
A cripple rises from his chair
One without sight cries as he sees the light
Another long ago deaf cries as she hears the angels voices
A small child one who's lovely hair has been lost
Lost to the mortal man's attempt to heal
She is overlooked, ignored
For he knows those truly afflicted
He cannot heal, stealing his thunder
The truth is hidden behind the eye's
It is the mouth that tells the lies

Can I hear an ...
