The Lonely Girl

by Emily F. Gelb   Jan 16, 2006

A little girl
Falls in the rain
But no one is there
To feel her pain
Shes lost and alone
And she lives in a place
Where no one goes
The people stare
As she walks by each day
She seems to have a new bruise
Hiding her face
People wonder but
They never ask
Why she is so quite
And seems to hide
Behind a mask
Every night the girl goes home
Dreading what will
Anger her mom
But she faces her fears
She holds her head high
Then when she is beaten
To the ground
She sits there and cries
As her mom turned around
The girl whispers I love you
Without a frown
But her mom doesn't listen
She keeps bringing more pain
And the girl smiles
As her life starts to fade
She says to herself
The has finally come
Where mommy cant hurt me
While in a drunken rage
And daddy can hold me
Again in his arms
She said goodbye mommy
Don't ever forget me
Then finally she died
With a smile on her face
